So if you didn't already know... or you're like me and don't give a shit about MTV, here's some semi-recent news. Amy Winehouse will be performing at the 2007 MTV movie awards. A couple things are making me laugh about this.
Lindsay Lohan is supposed to be appearing, but she might get thrown into rehab after the little DUI issue she had this week. Maybe Amy will dedicate "Rehab" to her. Hopefully she won't play it at all. I'd rather see her dedicate "Fuck Me Pumps" in lieu of the foreseeable future of Ms. Lohan and her little pals. I'm not saying Amy's an angel, nor am I hoping for her downfall. But, knowing how much Winehouse loves to get hammered and oblivious, I'm hoping she does that for MTV. The more obnoxious the better. That's Rock and Roll.
Despite her new-found popularity, she's no pop star. Just a chick with a little devil in her who happens to write songs that would be groundbreaking in the 1960's or earlier. At any rate, I was a little surprised when I heard she was on the bill. I'm hoping all the brainwashed watchers of MTV will just get confused and move on...keeping Ms. Winehouse distant from the mainstream side of the US music industry.
