Movie News

Ok, I just watched a demo reel for the new Rambo movie aptly titled: John Rambo. Although it was better than expected, I didn't care too much for Rocky Balboa. After watching this trailer for John Rambo, I'm pretty anxious. This movie looks fucking brutal. The plot might be kind of lame, but who cares. Rambo movies are all about killing. If he can do Rocky, he can certainly do Rambo. At 60 years old, an Nam-Vet is much more believable than a Boxer. This is set to release in 2008.

Jet Li is in 2 new movies: War and The Warlords. Yes, they are 2 separate movies. Li is co-starring next to Jason Statham in War, a film about a rogue FBI agent (Statham) and an assassin (Li). The Warlords is based on The Assassination of Ma, a Qing Dynasty story about the killing of general Ma Xinyi. The original story was filmed by Zhang Che in 1973 as The Blood Brothers. As you can imagine, The Warlords will not be in English.

Sin City 2 is hitting bump in the road. According to Michel Madison, The Weinstein Company is a little reluctant to start filming for Sin City 2 because of the poor box office ticket sales of Grindhouse.

By the way, come late 2008 we should be seeing trailers for Terminator 4. Who'll be starring in it? Nobody really knows.

Peripheral's New One

For his newest project Satellite Party, Perry Farrell joined up with Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) and it actually sounds pretty dope. He also brought in Thievery Co., Fergie (Black Eyed Peas), Flea and John Frusciante (Chili Peppers) who took part in leading a 30 piece orchestra on 5 songs, Peter DiStefano (Porno for Pyros), and Jim Morrison (The Doors). Yes, that's right, he used some previously unreleased vocals by the Lizard King himself on "Woman in the Window".

"There's a story attached to the music," Perry says. "This group of people, who call themselves the Solutionists, try to create a myth. It's the idea of, by putting together their own parties and their own media hub on the Internet, they begin to redesign and come up with solutions for the world."

Satellite Party's album "Ultra Payloaded" blends rock, electronic programming, symphonic pieces, and even some middle eastern rhythms but doesn't fill the void created by the absence of Jane's Addiction.

Amy on MTV

So if you didn't already know... or you're like me and don't give a shit about MTV, here's some semi-recent news. Amy Winehouse will be performing at the 2007 MTV movie awards. A couple things are making me laugh about this.

Lindsay Lohan is supposed to be appearing, but she might get thrown into rehab after the little DUI issue she had this week. Maybe Amy will dedicate "Rehab" to her. Hopefully she won't play it at all. I'd rather see her dedicate "Fuck Me Pumps" in lieu of the foreseeable future of Ms. Lohan and her little pals. I'm not saying Amy's an angel, nor am I hoping for her downfall. But, knowing how much Winehouse loves to get hammered and oblivious, I'm hoping she does that for MTV. The more obnoxious the better. That's Rock and Roll.

Despite her new-found popularity, she's no pop star. Just a chick with a little devil in her who happens to write songs that would be groundbreaking in the 1960's or earlier.
At any rate, I was a little surprised when I heard she was on the bill. I'm hoping all the brainwashed watchers of MTV will just get confused and move on...keeping Ms. Winehouse distant from the mainstream side of the US music industry.

New Season for Henry

I'm pretty happy this show is on Friday nights. Although, I'm either out rehearsing, playing poker, or drinking... so never mind. At any rate, Shatner and Patton. What else is there to say?

EPISODE 308 PREMIERES FRIDAY, JUNE 1ST AT 11 PM ET
In this week’s Teeing Off, Henry examines how our nation’s leaders took advantage of our ignorance about the Middle East’s religion and culture in order to con us into the Iraq War. In another edition of the animated “Drawing Conclusions”, Henry wonders at the animal world’s most skittish member—the impala.
